Came across a great site this week called Army Fancy Dress specializing in military fancy dress. With the Goodwood Revival coming up this might furnish an alternative to the tweeds and knitted cardigan look for the 1940’s theme.

Bestival 2009 is doing an Outer Space theme this year - a great opportunity for Fancy Dress. With all the mud though you are going to have to choose costumes carefully!

My ideas so far are:

• A bunch of star wars stormtroopers
• Whichever Doctor Who and whichever assistant looks most like you and your partner
• Star Trek Crew
• Futurama crew
• Star Wars - Leia, Luke, Padme (some great costumes availble off the shelf) - Wookies may be too hot (in one sense)
• Daleks (use a whisk and a plumbers plunger - and put an eye stalk on a bike helmet)
• Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy (You’d only need a dressing gown and a mobile phone as the guide)
• Red Dwarf (Yeah!) - Dave Lister would be easy with some old leathers - or even Ace Rimmer
